Our Visitor Attraction site at Lisvane and Llanishen opened in 2023, in the North of Cardiff, and is open all year round! This is an exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to join Welsh Water. The site boasts, a state-of-the-art Visitor Attraction building with 150-cover restaurant, balcony with views over both reservoirs, group and cubicle changing rooms, both land and water-based activities, education learning space, bird hides & islands, meeting rooms and a Grab & Go.

What you’ll be responsible for

 

Supervising the kitchen, retail and restaurant areas to ensure excellent customer service is delivered whilst maintaining a safe environment for all persons on site. This will include:

  1. Ensuring the safety of all persons on site
  2. Ordering all kitchen and goods for resale supplies from designated suppliers
  3. Maintaining upkeep of all kitchen HACCP records at all times and to the required standard
  4. Preparing, cooking and serving meals, managing and organising café assistants to deliver high quality customer service
  5. Supervising and identifying training needs of colleagues to ensure excellent customer service
  6. Striving to develop and improve the customer experience offering
  7. Ensuring the service in the café and retail area is maintained to a high standard
  8. Engaging with customers as an ambassador of Welsh Water
  9. Maintaining the food hygiene standards, upkeep and tidiness of the kitchen, retail and restaurant areas in accordance with Welsh Water Food safety procedures
  10. Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business

About you

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills 

 

We are looking for a creative and positive person to join our team!

 

 

  • Good grasp of MS Office and experience using POS systems   
  • Satisfactory DBS check    
  • Practical health & safety and food safety experience in a visitor attraction or retail or restaurant environment    
  • Experience working with the general public    
  • Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day    
  • Catering/Retail/Hospitality customer service experience
  • Ability to work on own initiative

Working pattern

  • 37 hours over 5 days with 1 in 3 weekends
  • Predominately daytime opening with a potential evening service in future
  • Typical shift patterns: either 8.30am-4.30pm or 10am-6.30pm (flexibility considered)
