What you’ll be responsible for


  • Participate in the operation of water treatment works and associated water intakes, pumping stations, mains and reservoirs
  • Co-ordinate purchasing of chemicals and consumables
  • Ensure correct compliance to required EC Directives, IMS and other company standards and procedures including Health & Safety
  • Induct and supervise outside contractors when carrying out work on revenue and other capital works at various sites, including detailed technical process information to strategic partners
  • Operate Water Treatment Works and associated water pumping stations to company BMS and Health & Safety requirements
  • Control chemical and other stock levels and consumables by control and management of purchasing via SAP. To monitor and control expenditure to meet budgetary targets
  • To induct, supervise and manage outside contractors carrying out revenue and reactive capital maintenance breakdowns and projects ensuring full compliance to Health & Safety and IMS requirements and ensuring quality control
  • To liaise with ME & I craftsmen on revenue and reactive capital maintenance work.
  • Liaise and plan work with network supervisors and operatives to ensure uninterrupted supply when plant shut downs are required for maintenance and other associated work required on site
  • To participate in arrangements and cover for annual leave and sickness for area of operation.
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with area Supervisor and team members on operating activities and to formulate effective and efficient cost reductions plans and savings

•    Advice and support from the Production Engineers, Process Control and Craftsmen
•    Liaison with local Distribution Team



•    Liaison with Environment Agency
•    Liaison and co-ordination of suppliers and contractors

About you


Experience, Qualifications & Skills 


  • NVQ Level 2 or higher, BTEC, ONC / HNC qualifications in Water Treatment Process Operations would be advantageous
  • Computer systems literate including SAP, Exchange, Word and Excel are essential
  • Fully conversant with Company IMS procedures and Health and Safety requirement and control
  • Experience gained in the industry with use of SCADA systems, Instrumentation and Mechanical and Electrical equipment would be advantageous
  • Experience gained in the industry to ensure full compliance and adherence to all H&S issues
  • Awareness of regulatory bodies such as DWI and NRW
  • Also knowledge when dealing with control of abstraction under licence at raw water intakes
  • Also knowledge when dealing with discharge consent licence for all environmental discharges

Will be required to participate in a 1 in 4 standby working 1 weekend a month

260 Planned Worktime overtime hours included on top of salary
