What you’ll be responsible for


You will join a great team of colleagues during our peak season from April to October. Your role will be to assist the Senior Activity Instructor and the team to safeguard and assist members of the public who undertake water sports and team building activities from Monday to Sunday during the season.  You will be smart and presentable, and able to communicate in an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful way to visitors, projecting a positive image for Welsh Water at all times. There is no public transport available, so access to a reliable transport is essential. Below are some duties you will be responsible for:


  • Assist in the delivery of the water sports activity program for customers visiting the reservoir, including any associated organised team building programs. 
  • Present a professional attitude and appearance and at all times maintaining an excellent level of customer service and water safety.  Engage with visitors as an ambassador of Welsh Water
  • Delivery of water sports instruction following the appropriate national governing body syllabus and Welsh Water programmes.
  • Ensure the health and safety of all visitors and customers using the facilities of the site. 
  • Ensure maintenance, repair and security of all Welsh Water equipment and facilities are of a continued high standard in order to exceed the requirements of our customers.
  • Work proactively as part of a team to set up and pack up on site facilities and provide assistance to all customers using the equipment at the centre.
  • Take part in the team rota that will involve working midweek & weekends in the summer season.
  • Serve customers in the water sports shop, handle activity enquiries and advance bookings.
  • Enforce the rules of the site and the waterside, especially the ‘no swimming in reservoirs’ rule, the opening and closing times, and the safe marshalling of visitors during busy periods
  • Support conservation, educational, public access and recreational activities, open days, and events.
  • Carry out any other tasks as required for the effective management of the site, as directed by the Senior Instructor or ALM.

About you



  • Appropriate National Governing Body (NGB) Certification in at least one water sports discipline. e.g. RYA Dinghy Instructor / British Canoeing Level 2 Coach / Paddle Sports Leader
  • Working with the general public
  • Practical health & safety experience    
  • Water safety
  • Ability to work on own initiative    
  • Current Recognised First Aid Certificate  



  • Lifeguard Qualification 
  • NGB qualifications in Mountain Biking, Climbing, Stand Up Paddleboarding or Archery
  • RYA Power Boat Level 2
  • Ability to speak Welsh
