Overview of your role and what it entails: I manage a team of over 50 scientists and technicians to carry out chemical and microbiological analysis of clean water samples for Welsh Water and a number of local authorities. My team is based on two sites in Newport and Bretton (just outside Chester) and we have some of the best laboratory facilities in the country utilising the very latest techniques and instrumentation. What do you most enjoy about your role?

First, it’s the variety. Every day is different and there are new challenges to overcome all the time. Second, and definitely the more important are the colleagues I work with. Welsh Water provides an essential public service and its great to be a part of that team. I am passionate about developing our people and I often get the chance to mentor colleagues as they progress through their professional career.

What would you say to anyone thinking about working at Welsh Water?

Do it! Welsh Water is a brilliant company to work for. The culture and values of everyone in the company are fantastic and I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else
