Work Experience FAQs

How far in advance do I need to apply?
The earlier the better. At certain times of the year we get lots of requests for work experience placements. So, if your first choice is not available, we can look for an alternative.

When can the work experience take place?
Work experience can take place throughout any month of the year and there is a section on the application form for you to specify the time period you want.

When will I hear if I have been successful?
We aim to confirm with you within ten working days if we have been able to accommodate your request.

Who do I contact if I need help with the application form?
If you have any questions on the application form, please contact our Talent Development team by email on dcww.l&d@dwrcymru.com

Can I apply if I'm under 18?
Yes. The minimum age is 14 and there is no upper age limit.

Will you pay my expenses?
No. We are unable to reimburse any expenses. We will always try to locate your work experience as close to your home address as possible to keep costs low.

Can I apply for work experience if I am not based in the UK?
We can only accept applications from people who have already obtained the right to work in the UK.

What should I wear for my work experience placement?
Dress is smart/informal. If you are on an operational work experience placement you will need to wear steel toe capped boots. If there are any specific requirements, we will let you know in advance.

What is the duration of work experience?
Work experience is usually one or two weeks, however the maximum amount of time for one person is 20 days.

What are the hours of a work experience placement?
Most work experience placements will follow normal business hours, which are 09:00-17:00, Monday-Friday.
