What you’ll be responsible for

As a Pressure Management and Data Operability Inspector, you will be carrying out planned and reactive maintenance of Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs) to ensure network pressure is managed in order to achieve optimal leakage savings, whilst assisting the team to achieve a data operability target of 95% for your operational area.


Your key responsibilities will include: 
 

  1. Performing field audits of PRVs and network meters and undertake the programming, deployment and retrieval of flow and pressure data loggers
  2. Building and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, internal departments, company partners and contractors
  3. Identifying opportunities to improve network performance and service delivery
  4. Maintaining all equipment and records to a high standard
  5. Ensuring IMS compliance of all activities to the standard required for internal and external audit
  6. Ensuring all data from flow and pressure monitoring studies is consistent, reliable and organised in order to facilitate the analysis and accurate reporting of both pressure and leakage related targets
  7. Supporting in the delivery of annual PRV servicing targets
  8. Supporting in the delivery of Data Operability targets
  9. Performing network valving operations to support planned and reactive maintenance activities
  10. Supporting the investigation of any network incidents (DG2, CML, reactive maintenance) for pressure management impacts
  11. Maintaining close working relationships with other Welsh Water departments to ensure customer impacts are minimised and all Health and Safety aspects are considered and effectively managed
  12. Providing support to all other departments during network related incidents
  13. Participating in a formal standby rota
  14. Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business

About you

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills 
 

  • A full UK Drivers Licence
  • Have a good knowledge of pressure management practices; principally in the maintenance, monitoring and adjustment of PRVs    
  • Display abilities in the practical application of data logging hardware and software packages    
  • Have an understanding of network hydraulics    
  • Have the drive and ambition to provide a first class service to our customers    
  • Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills, both written and oral    
  • Willingness to both work alone and as part of a team when required    
  • Efficiently organise your own time when required, handling routine work with a minimum of supervision    
  • Be flexible with regard to working patterns to meet the business need    
  • The ability to develop positive working relationships across the Water Engineering team and wider organisation   
  • Able to demonstrate the technical ability to identify pressure & metering related issues and suggest improvements    
  • Able to work as part of a team and on your own with attention to detail and under pressure    
  • Good knowledge of water distribution policies and procedures and service level agreements    
  • Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word    

Good to know

  • A full UK Drivers Licence is required for the role 
  • A company vehicle will be provided 
  • You will be required to participate in a Standby Rota 
  • 260 Hours Planned Working Time Agreement
