This is an exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to join Welsh Water the project represents a 12.6m investment in the site which will boast, a state-of-the-art Visitor Attraction building with 200 cover café, balcony with views over both reservoirs, group and cubicle changing rooms, both land and water based activities, education learning space, bird hides & islands, meeting rooms and a Grab & Go.

What you’ll be responsible for

 


Your job is to help develop an efficient, highly motivated effective team with H&S at the forefront of any activity, you will also help develop Lisvane Llanishen as a flagship site for Welsh Water and the leading visitor attraction by delivering an exceptional visitor experience through the effective management of land and water-based activities. This is a key role, within the Attraction Management team and will help shape and deliver our vision for the site.  
 
You will help develop a business plan to ensure ongoing growth, success, and sustainability. A key part of your role will be to increase revenue and improve profitability, through business efficiency, innovation, and effective marketing, whilst preserving a customer and environment focused ethos.


You should have proven success at building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, you will also be smart, presentable, dynamic and able to communicate in a constructive, knowledgeable way, projecting a positive/professional image of Welsh Water at all times. Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Ensuring a consistently high quality visitor experience through the effective management of water and land based activities, enforcement of byelaws and development of commercial activities, balancing our access, recreation, conservation and education responsibilities, with health and Safety.
  • Develop, Lead, manage & inspire a team of highly motivated permanent and seasonal employees and volunteers to achieve KPIs & deliver exceptional customer service  
  • Managing Health and Safety in line with DCWW procedures (for both internal and external customers ), to achieve best in class status 
  • Developing and implementing strategic plans to support the health and wellbeing agenda and maximise the use of the site by key user groups in accordance with DCWW corporate and business plans
  • Developing high quality activities, events and training programmes to grow visitors and revenue; and delivery in line with budgeted cost and income
  • Producing and interpreting weekly visitor and trading information for management and organisational reporting purposes. 
  • Supporting & contributing to the delivery of a marketing communications plan using a range of media to grow awareness, drive footfall and commercial revenue streams
  • As DCWW’s local representative, developing and building positive existing and new relationships internally within DCWW and externally with key sporting partners and organisations
  • Ensuring as a business we are compliant through training and development, legislation and that we meet our social and corporate responsibilities & companywide procedures.
  • Securing such grant funding as may be available to offset costs, further develop the recreational facilities and enhance biodiversity
  • Develop RAMS, NOPs, SOPs for the site and review in line with DCWW policy
  • Being part of a DM rota responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the site. 
  • A willingness to work unsocial hours and regular weekends & bank holidays is essential.  
  • Work closely with the various NGBs for Wales to achieve best in class status and obtain the relevant accreditations for site specific activities.

About you

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experiene

 

  • Demonstrable experience in managing water and land-based activities 
  • Professional qualifications – minimum of two NGB Qualifications, one at least to be a Senior Instructor certificate 
  • Proven track record in planning and delivering exceptional visitor experiences 
  • Commercial awareness and financial/budgeting skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements associated with water land-based activities & H&S, AALA  
  • Demonstrable experience leading & managing multi-disciplinary teams and volunteers to deliver business objectives
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and experience producing professional reports
  • Marketing & Communications experience - Desirable
  • Demonstrable experience in event management – public, private, weddings, corporate etc
  • Experienced managing multiple stakeholders with the ability to influence and engage with people at all levels
  • Extensive knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation 
  • Water Safety – safety Boat Operation min PB2, Safety Boat
  • Current & recognised First Aid Qualification
  • Proficient IT skills – MS Word, Excel, Outlook 
  • Ability to speak Welsh - Desirable
