Advanced Digestion - ICA Technician

What you’ll be responsible for

Day to day operation and maintenance of sludge treatment and associated plant, working to agreed standards to ensure the organisation meets its health & safety, contractual, regulatory, operational and financial targets. This will include:
 

• Operation and maintenance of sludge screening, sludge imports, centrifuges, odour control, Cambi™ process, water treatment, steam boilers, CHP plant, digestion process, return liquors, thermally hydrolysed sludge dewatering and sludge export
• Participating in a standby rota and planned work time
• Proactively carrying out planned maintenance and operational checks to time and required standards on a wide variety of ICA plant
• Programming PLCs, telemetry and the SCADA (including PVSS) system
• Liaising closely with the Operations Supervisor and Technical Operators to ensure that all instruments and control systems are maintained so that the sludge treatment train is not impaired 
• Monitoring and seeking to maximise performance of CHPs, liaising closely with the CHP Manager and maintenance providers
• Actively taking part in risk assessments, COSHH assessments and all health and safety issues
• Identifying problematic plant and the subsequent faults, rectifying where possible and escalating to the Operations Supervisor as appropriate
• Working closely with the Process Technicians in interpreting SCADA alarms and taking required action to reduce plant failures and achieve optimisation of plant
• Following and complying with all QMS procedures relating to the plant including all HACCP compliance
• Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business

About you

• Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline and is qualified to HNC level in Industrial Measurement and Control    
• Full UK driving licence    
• Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day    
• Excellent communicator and coordinator    
• Ability to manage work permits for live steam    
• Strong IT skills    
• Committed and hard working    
• Able to asses risk and adopt a safe working practice to undertake tasks    
• Can do attitude

• There will be a requirement to participate in standby rota
