What you’ll be responsible for

 

1.    To plan, organise and control the establishment’s operations to ensure that the food quality, presentation, and service are provided to the appropriate standards as defined by you line manager.

2.    Managing all aspects of food preparation, service and delivery within a high volume, seasonal retail catering environment to ensure an exceptional food service quality and avoid unnecessary wastage and deterioration of foodstuffs.

3.    Ensuring, as a department, the delivery of a high quality product / offering, to service meetings, events customer requirements and market trends.

4.    Complete food orders and menus costing on all products to allow comparison to actual, whilst achieving budget. Assist your line manager in preparing the Annual Budget.  To achieve and maintain the food cost in accordance with this budget (or any variation authorised by your line manager).  To produce cost/sales analyses when required by your line manager.

5.    Ensure food hygiene and safety guidelines are adhered to at all times, in line with EHO regulations, ensure that heavy duty kitchen equipment, light equipment, work areas, other facilities and general surroundings of the Establishment are maintained and operated to the standards required by the Statutory, Local Authority and Company Health, Safety, Fire and Hygiene regulations and policies.  Similarly, to ensure that the employees use safe methods of work and that no unauthorised person cleans/operates certain specified equipment.

6.    Leadership and management of a team of highly motivated permanent and part-time employees to achieve KPIs & deliver an exceptional customer service at all times, promote good staff relations and minimise employee turnover.

7.    Development of the onsite team though such tools as NVQ, one-to-one review meetings, training and development plans, succession planning and  basic food hygiene accreditation levels 1,2 &3.

8.    Develop the service offering and deliver excellent customer service, look for best in class fresh, local produce, develop and maintain good working relationships with all Welsh Water personnel and with the customers and visitors through regular personal contact, including representing the department at any Catering or other meeting required by your line manager.  To report regularly to the line manager matters discussed with any customers.

9.    Become renowned for quality of product and service within the region to develop new customer streams and return visitors.   

10.    Ensure all HACCP documentation is kept up to date at all times whilst maintaining / improving hygiene scores, upkeep and cleanliness of the kitchen, restaurant & associated stores, managing health and safety in line with business procedures (for both internal and external customers).

About you

 

Provide a professional and welcoming image for Welsh Water colleagues and visitors attending the catering facilities at Dwr Cymru Welsh Waters Headquarters in Linea and our premises in Ty Awen. You’ll join a great team of Facilities Management colleagues at the Head Office, supporting the business and providing a first class and fit for purpose working environment. A flexible approach and team work is essential. You will be a seasoned operator and able to communicate in an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful way to visitors, advocating for Welsh Water at all times. 

 

The main focus of your role will to be to organise and supervise the unit in accordance with and to the standards required by Welsh Water, the statutory Regulations. To be responsible for the overall efficient and effective management of the unit under their control providing a quality service.

 

Responsible for the preparation, cooking and service of food to agreed standards and specification. To ensure the efficient and economic use is made of all resources, including stock, team members and company assets. You will also be helping develop a business plan to ensure growth, success and sustainability. A key part of the role will be to increase revenue and improve profitability through business efficiency innovation and exceptional customer service. You will deliver this through the effective leadership and development of your team.

 

You will source fresh local produce and ensure its service delivery through best practice benchmarking against market leaders and key high end operators, making our sites, people and product best in class.

 

You should have a proven success at building relationships with both internal and external customers, dynamic and able to communicate in a constructive and knowledgeable way, projecting a positive / professional image of Welsh Water at all times.
