About our visitor attraction centre
Our Visitor Attraction site at Lisvane and Llanishen opened in 2023, in the North of Cardiff, and is open all year round! This is an exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to join Welsh Water. The site boasts, a state-of-the-art Visitor Attraction building with 150cover restaurant, balcony with views over both reservoirs, group and cubicle changing rooms, both land and water-based activities, education learning space, bird hides & islands, meeting rooms and a Grab & Go.

What you’ll be responsible for
We appreciate that working in the kitchen can be a tough one. That said, our team still have an amazing time and are at the top of their game because the food they prepare, cook and serve creates amazing memories for our guests leaving them wanting more.

Even though we're not looking for Al-a-Carte chefs, we are looking for a team that have a passion for all things food with perhaps some basic kitchen experience - however full training is available for the right candidates.
Joining our team as a Chef at Llanishen and Lisvane VC will give you the opportunity to develop important skills, such as:
- Communication skills by listening to other team members and management
- Building a commercial awareness and the experience of working in a commercial environment
- Working with regulations such as health and safety and licensing laws, and making sure that colleagues understand them

Duties:
- Prepare, cook and serve meals, manage and organise team members to deliver high quality customer service.
- Support menu creation and design to achieve and maximise Gross Margin..
- Supervise and identify training needs of colleagues to ensure excellent customer service.
- Ensuring the safety of all persons on site.
- To order all kitchen and goods for resale supplies from designated suppliers.
- Contribute to the upkeep of all kitchen HACCP records at all times and to required standard.
- Strive to develop and improve the customer experience offering.
- Maintain the food hygiene standards, upkeep and tidiness of the kitchen, in accordance with Welsh Water's Food safety procedures.
- Engage with customers as an ambassador of Welsh Water.
About you
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Commercial catering and kitchen supervisory experience
- Practical health & safety and food safety experience
- Catering / Retail customer service knowledge
- Ability to work on own initiative, and manage a team
Desirable only
- Up to date Food Hygiene Level 3 minimum certification would be desirable
- City & Guilds or NVQ equivalent qualification desirable
PLEASE NOTE: if you are successful at first stage interview, you will be required to complete a 2-hour trial shift for final selection for this position.

Good to know
- Site based working at Lisvane Visitor Attraction Centre.
- Part-time - number of shifts per week can be flexible.
- Typical shifts - 8.30am-4.30pm up to 5 days / week (subject to flex).
- There is also a requirement to work weekends and bank holidays on a rotation basis.
