What you’ll be responsible for


As Data Specialist you will play a key role contributing towards the aims and objectives of the Data and Analytics Strategy, delivering first class solutions, and helping the organisation fully leverage the potential opportunities that data provides.


Key responsibilities:


  • The delivery of key data and analytical outputs, either solely or through close collaboration with other Data Team colleagues, that directly support strategic objectives belonging to the entire organisation 
  • Effective capture of stakeholder requirements and establishing appropriate means of communicating with stakeholders, throughout the project lifecycle, to ensure final solutions are as expected
  • Be able to analyse data to a high standard, being able to identify key trends and points of interest within datasets, and be confidently able to communicate findings in a manner that best suits your audience
  • Ensuring products are robust, are effectively tested, and are ultimately of high quality, using appropriate data, analytical, statistical, or programmatic approaches
  • Adherence to relevant internal processes intended to assure both the use and protection of data, such as the DPIA and InfoSec Assessment processes 
  • Completion of required project documentation, and management and timely upkeep of work-based activities throughout each sprint cycle
  • Supporting strategic initiatives intended to develop the data knowledge and skills of others – such as through analytical communities of practice and data literacy programmes – representing the Data Team and always promoting best practices
  • Using your knowledge of the field to successfully identify opportunities for implementing data and analytics within the organisation to help improve efficiency, reduce cost, and enhance customer service
  • Planning and prioritizing your own work ensuring deadlines are met, and any blockers or challenges are proactively targeted for resolution as quickly as possible

About you


  • Strong data handling skills, and an understanding of key data management and data governance concepts
  • Previous experience working with data, such as through data analysis or data reporting
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Being able to work with stakeholders at all levels across our organisation, and be able to translate business needs into clear technical requirements for data/analytical work
  • Working with data from structured and unstructured sources.  Being able to diagnose issues with data quality and apply suitable technical methods for dealing with this 
  • Strong data analysis skills, being able to select appropriate techniques when analysing data, and using effective means for visualising and communicating key outputs
  • Attention to detail with a strong working ethic to ensure analysis and results are thorough and free of errors
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workloads effectively to ensure deadlines are met
  • Teamwork and being able to willingly offer input into collaborative projects requiring contribution
  • Ability to take responsibility for deliverables and any associated issues, to be accountable for their timely delivery and quality
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
  • Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders across different levels

This role will have both office and home based working, and a requirement to participate in out of hours standby
