What you’ll be responsible for


As the Development Planning Liaison Manager, you will be responsible for leading and directing all activity regarding development management and associated services within the town planning function. This includes overseeing the completion of planning applications, SAB consultations, pre-planning enquiries, & new sewer connections within statutory timeframes and in compliance with D-Mex requirements. Also, inputting into development growth requirements, aligning planning position with our capital investment programme, and implementing any changes in guidance (e.g. from our regulators) impacting the way the planning team responds to new development and growth.
 

  • Managing all development management activity and associated services within Developer Services (DS). 
  • Ensuring all key performance indicators are met, which shall include compliance with Water UK’s Levels of Service for Developer Services (D-MeX) functions and Welsh Government’s performance measures with DCWW being a Statutory Planning Consultee. 
  • Actively prevent service failures e.g. DG2, DG5, pollution incidents, consent breaches and ensure serviceability of DCWW’s assets are maintained and protected from the impacts of new development and growth.
  • Leading, motivating, managing and supporting the performance of the planning team across the area, supporting the delivery of Business Customer Services Business Plan.
  • Providing wider support to the DS team with respect to expert planning and water industry legislative, regulatory and guidance. 
  • Managing relationships with external stakeholders engaged in planning activity i.e. LPA, government, regulatory bodies, developing a more proactive and informed planning function.

About you


Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in Town Planning, City Planning or Urban planning other environmental related disciplines
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of Town and Country Urban Planning process, water industry and / or environmental role 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills are required to motivate, performance manage, develop and lead a team
  • Experience of stakeholder management
  • Ability to work to tight regulatory and project deadlines 
     

Good to know

 

This is a hybrid role and you will be required to visit the office around 2/3 days a week or more depending on the business needs/requirements.
