What you’ll be responsible for



12 Months Fixed Contract


An internal communications professional, or marketing professional looking to gain build on their experience of running campaigns and the use of digital technology, with a keen interest and understanding of using digital and technology to enhance campaigns and internal communications.

Through your ability to build relationships with senior colleagues and your knowledge of internal communication channels, campaigns and approaches, you will be central to our work to support the company’s vision and values, and have informed and engaged colleagues. Your ability to create engaging content, develop new and innovative ideas to ensure key messages and campaigns are understood while also understanding the multiple audience groups at Welsh Water will be critical to supporting the delivery of compelling communications activities focused on our business priorities

This is a central role, working with the communications team, to deliver key workstreams across Welsh Water to ensure the “one team” ethos is understood and “bought into”. 


What you’ll be responsible for 
•    Support the Head of Internal Communications in delivery of the company’s internal communications strategy 
•    Owning the creation of compelling campaigns ideas and content that is engaging, fresh and fit for purpose
•    Ensuring where possible our communications are targeted to the right audience at the right time to ensure maximum impact.  Be the owner of an internal communications dashboard to support this.
•    Work closely with colleagues and managers across the business to give communications advice and support where needed – acting as a trusted advisor to colleagues and senior managers alike.
•    Responsibility for owning and delivering key campaigns across the business
•    Manage the demand and quality of internal communications’ content and channels including the intranet
•    Own and manage video creation and editing and support live stream and digital event capability for the company. 
•    Managing key events across the business to ensure visibility of our Executive team, and that business messages are understood. 
•    Provide graphic design support to our internal designer, supporting the production of graphics, brands and illustrations for internal clients using range of adobe creative suite products.

Who you’ll work with


Welsh Water’s Executive Team, Communications Team’s Senior Managers, general Heads of Service,, Employee Engagement network, key stakeholders in Retail Services & ITS (our in-house IT function), as well as the colleague base of Welsh Water.

About you


  • A good level of education, ideally qualified to degree level or with a professional communication I communications or equivalent qualification
  • Experience of working in a communications or marketing  environment in a customer focused organisation/industry
  • Track record in engaging employees in campaigns, also building relationships and internal partnerships to form strategic plans
  • Credibility and experience to advise senior managers effectively about communications issues
  • Experience of creative and accurate copywriting in different styles and communicating information to people in a simple and engaging way
  • Producing live digital events across range of software platforms
  • Sound knowledge of IT, systems, technology and networks to be intelligent customer in delivering IT/comms solutions.
  • Proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Suite products to ensure professional look and feel to productions – providing great user experience. Primarily Photoshop/Premiere. Indesign and advantage.


Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong change communications experience and the ability to work with and influence senior leaders in the company
  • Ability to work at senior level to achieve long-term strategic goals through creating, developing and implementing the communications strategy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish rapport, credibility and relationships across Welsh Water
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Confidence in utilising new communication technologies
  • The ability to build relationships at all levels across the organisation, to empathise and to get to the crux of what is on the mind of employees
  • Proven ability to achieve results both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage complex activities and events
  • A strong understanding of the role internal communications plays in employee engagement
  • Good working knowledge of video, production, technology and associated packages (OBS, Premiere, NDI, Microsoft)

The location for this role will be flexible and in line with COVID-19 legislation.
