What you’ll be responsible for

 

Capturing all meter reading data in line with the Field Operations meter-reading schedule in order to ensure the customer receives an accurate and timely bill and to avoid unwanted contacts and complaints. Undertaking any ad hoc field visits that have been requested to either, disconnect the water supply, or to obtain further information as required by the Company in order to resolve a customer query or dispute. This will include:


•    Capturing water meter reading data from water customer’s meters, using the handheld unit, within set timescales as directed by the cyclical meter reading schedule.
•    Identifying unexpected water meter reads, such as higher or lower water consumption profile, and recording this additional information onto the handheld device in line with the Automated Meter Reading guidelines.
•    Providing a report for any water meter that was unable to be read within the schedule, in line with the metering procedures.
•    Placing all water meters into a most efficient walk order route that optimises the volume of water meters read.
•    Disconnecting the water supply on commercial properties as instructed by the Commercial Collections Department.
•    Undertaking supply checks on water supplies that have been disconnected for non-payment of water charges, in line with company guidelines and timeframes, and to immediately escalate any situation, where the water supply has turned back on, to the Commercial Collections Team for further instruction.
•    Proactively undertaking a dynamic risk assessment at each field visit to ensure a safe working environment prior to undertaking each activity and always remaining safe.
•    Reporting all near misses and hazards that could cause potential harm to not only yourself but other colleagues and our Customers, in line with the Company health and safety process and procedures.
•    Ensuring the company vehicle is regularly checked in line with company policy and that any vehicle defects are immediately escalated in line with transport guidelines.
•    Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

About you

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

  • IT literate and able to use multiple computer systems
  • The ability to self-manage workloads and change priorities to maximise effectiveness and performance
  • Excellent organisational skills and self-management to work to deadlines in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to communicate information in a clear and confident manner; adapting communication method and style to suit the audience; checking to ensure that information has been understood
  • A flexible approach to changes in work loads in order to meet business and customer needs
  • Able to prioritise Health and Safety at all times and take responsibility for other people’s welfare at work, including colleagues and customers
  • Be solution driven and bring ideas into the team in order to improve current processes 

Good to know

 

•    The successful candidate will cover Cardigan and surrounding area, so you must be living within this catchment or within a 15-mile radius to be considered for the role.
•    Company Van will be provided.
•    Hours of work are flexible between 6am – 8pm Monday to Sunday but minimum of 4 hours per day Monday – Friday.
•    A clean driving licence.
•    This position is subject to financial, DBS and reference checks before a start date is confirmed
