What you’ll be responsible for


An exciting time to join Welsh Water's HR team as we embark upon a new HR strategy.  The HR Advisor will provide expert, proactive, timely advice and support to managers and colleagues to enable effective people management across the business.  As a HR Advisor, you will use your strong customer-focused approach to deliver innovative and timely HR solutions whilst role modelling great customer service to the whole business.


This will include:


  1. Providing expert and proactive HR advice and guidance to Team Leaders, Supervisors and colleagues at all levels in order to support Company initiatives and success.
  2. Ensuring that line managers are conversant with and consistently apply HR related Company Policies and Procedures.
  3. Working in accordance with Welsh Water values, demonstrating professional behaviours, good team work while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  4. Having a flexible approach and be able to offer flexibility around working time in order to support business requirements.
  5. Developing strong working relationships with Supervisors and Team Leaders to understand key performance issues and associated people requirements to meet both current and future organisational challenges and business needs.
  6. Assisting your assigned business area HRBP to implement and promote the HR strategy and launch new HR initiatives.
  7. Supporting the HRBP in development of innovative, timely and cost effective best practice HR solutions to enable the organisation to meet its objectives.
  8. Providing responsive, high quality advice to support managers on all aspects of the human resources function with an emphasis on taking shared responsibility and ownership for decision-making involving people issues.
  9. Full HR case management of employee relations issues including engagement of the Employee Services, Talent Development, Reward and Pensions teams.
  10. Working with the Reward Team prior to providing guidance to managers on pay and reward matters/issues.
  11. Delivering effective management information to business areas.
  12. Seeking to continuously improve the quality and value the HR service provides to the organisation. 
  13. Seeking to continuously improve the service HR provides to the organisation. 
  14. Offering HR support through attendance at consultation meetings during times of Organisational change. 
  15. Providing best practice HR advice and support in order to assist line managers in all aspects of the line management of their teams.
  16. Coaching/advising managers in the implementation of robust recruitment and selection processes.
  17. Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

About you

All criteria are essential, unless otherwise stated:


  • CIPD qualified (or nearing completion of studying for qualification) and/or educated to degree level or equivalent


  • Previous experience working as a Human Resources Adviser or equivalent role within a HR team

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of employment law with the ability to implement that knowledge to resolve work place issues
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills ideally gained within a unionised environment

Good to know


This role is based in North Wales and will require a hybrid arrangement of part of the week in the office, part at home to support our internal customers.
