What you’ll be responsible for


As a Process Operator you will be involved in the operation of wastewater treatments works, ensuring 100% compliance with all regulatory standards. You should be willing to develop your knowledge & skills around wastewater treatment processes, take part in ‘on the job’ training and have the flexibility and competence to operate and maintain multiple sites.


There will be the opportunity to attain a recognised industry qualification in wastewater treatment along with other training required for the role.
Key responsibilities include:

•    Operating Wastewater Treatment Works and SPS’s (pump stations) processes across Chester and Queensferry area’s to company IMS and Health & Safety requirements.
•    Supporting the Operations Supervisor by undertaking the following: -
•    Input breakdowns of equipment on the defect report sheet
•    Ensure that IMS data is up to date and records are stored correctly as per business requirement. 
•    Conduct inspection of the Laboratory equipment calibrations and condition assessments to ensure accurate data capture and sample analysis in line with our permit conditions.
•    Complete flow meter (Mcert) operational tasks and checks are up to date and input onto our SAP (Field IT system) within the required timeframe. 
•    Compliance and process optimisation.
•    Conduct process optimisation checks to ensure that site regulatory requirements are met.
•    Review data requirements and capture onto relevant software/reports and share findings with the operational supervisor or relevant stakeholders. 
•    Process efficiencies, initiatives and process improvement opportunities - Actively participate with the teams development of S.O.P’s and share best practices.
•    Ensure that energy team are supported with initiatives to allow energy efficiencies and cost savings in our day-to-day operational costs such as TRIAD management, DSBR, frequency response and Treatment efficiency control (i.e. Advanced process control etc.).
•    General housekeeping, maintaining excellent health & safety awareness and compliance with health & safety initiatives.
•    Control of sludge thickening centrifuges to optimise on site sludge processing and cake production.

•    Strong working relationships with the operational supervisor and all support functions.
•    Advice and support from the scientific and ME&I Crafts personnel.
•    Operations coordinator.

•    Liaison with Natural Resources Wales (NRW)
•    Liaison with local environmental health officers

About you


Knowledge, Skills & Experience 


  • NVQ Level 2 or higher in Waste Water Treatment Process Operations - Desirable
  • Computer systems literate including SAP, Scope X, Exchange, Word and Excel 
  • Knowledge of centrifuge operation - Desirable
  • Fully conversant with IMS procedures and Health and Safety requirements and control
  • Experience gained in the industry with use of SCADA systems, Instrumentation and Mechanical and Electrical equipment - Desirable
  • Experience gained in the industry to ensure full compliance and adherence to all H&S issues
  • Awareness of regulatory bodies such as Welsh assembly government, Natural resources Wales and OFWAT.
  • Knowledge of discharge consent licences for environmental discharges.
