Good to know

 

 

Café Manager two-year fixed term contract:

 

  • Working 5 days a week at our Visitor Centre, which is open 7 days
  • Café hours: 8am–5pm in summer, 9am–3pm in winter
  • You’ll manage your own variable rota with flexible shift patterns
  • Expect some weekend and bank holiday shifts
  • Up to 6 evening shifts a year for special events
  • Average 37 hours/week on a 1,924-hour annualised contract
  • We welcome flexible working requests to help you balance work and life
  • Driving licence and own transport is essential as Llyn Brenig Visitor Centre (postcode LL21 9TT) is a remote site, not covered by public transport.
  • An enhanced DBS check will be required prior to start date for all successful applicants.

What you’ll be responsible for

  1. Manage all aspects of food preparation, service, and delivery to create exceptional experiences in a seasonal catering environment.  
  2. Ensure high-quality products and services for meetings, events, and retail customers while embracing innovation and market trends.  
  3. Lead and inspire a diverse team, fostering an inclusive culture and supporting career development through feedback and progression plans.  
  4. Uphold the highest standards of food hygiene, safety, and health in line with regulations, ensuring a safe environment for all.  
  5. Enhance the service offering by sourcing fresh, local produce and introducing creative menus that celebrate diversity and sustainability.  
  6. Build a strong reputation for quality and innovation to attract new customers and encourage repeat visits.  
  7. Maintain accurate operational documentation, cost controls, and stock management to ensure efficiency and fairness.  
  8. Collaborate on marketing and events programmes to grow awareness, drive footfall, and create culturally inclusive experiences.  
  9. Engage with customers as an ambassador for Welsh Water, promoting community values and exceptional service.  
  10. Be operationally visible and proactive, supporting the team and carrying out additional duties to meet business needs.

About you

 

  • Demonstrable experience in Catering / Cafe operations using fresh locally sourced produce  
  • Practical Health & Safety experience in a retail or  Café environment 
  • Excellent customer service skills, from a customer focused background with the ability to communicate at all levels  
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements associated with food hygiene licensing law, Premises licence, PMR, PRL, EHO, trading standards 
  • Proven track record of managing developing and maintaining a team to meet customer and business needs  
  • Proven track record of growing income across a food and beverage operation  
  • Demonstrable experience of food service & food production in a establishment to a set standard, exceeding expectations and customer perception
