What you’ll be responsible for


 

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water keeps 3 million people healthy each day with safe drinking water and takes away wastewater to clean, before returning it safely to our beautiful rivers and seas. •    Take part in the flexible team rota that will involve working up to any 5 days in 7 to include weekends and bank holidays during the season, working early or late shifts to give cover as required.
•    Ensure the safety of all persons on site; staff, contractors and Visitors including sailors, paddlers, anglers, walkers, cyclists, bird watchers etc.
•    Carry out grounds maintenance tasks, grass cutting and wildlife habitat management as instructed. Maintenance of paths and tracks, gates, styles, fences and signage.
•    Maintain the upkeep and presentation of the visitor centre and the site, litter picking, upkeep of the buildings, general cleaning duties around the visitor centre and toilets.
•    Engage with visitors as an ambassador of Welsh Water, interpreting the wildlife, angling, and amenity features to enable visitors to enjoy their visit to the maximum. Upsell events, activities and services offered at Llyn Brenig.
•    Enforce the rules of the site and the waterside, especially the ‘no swimming in reservoirs’ rule, the opening and closing times to anglers, and the safe issue and return of boats and mountain bikes for hire.
•    Help maintain the fleet of anglers’ boats to ensure a constant supply of working craft with working engines throughout the season. 
•    Help maintain the fleet of mountain bikes to ensure a constant supply of working bikes throughout the season.
•    Support operations within the activity hub, meet and greet customers, assist with the hire of equipment such as buoyancy aids. Manage customer bookings, complete relevant forms and operate the till.
•    Support in the provision of biodiversity, conservation and educational talks, public access and recreational activities, open days and events and angling competitions.
•    Carry out any other tasks as required for the effective management of the site, as directed by the Visitor Experience Manager.
•    Support other teams within the Visitor Attraction as and when required.

About you

 

 

We would like to see applications from candidates who are positive, friendly, can work under their own initiative, and are at ease working with the public. Some skills and experience we look for includes:
 
•    Full Driving Licence (essential)
•    Rural estate grounds maintenance
•    Excellent customer service skills
•    Practical Health and Safety skills
•    Experience with bike hire and maintenance
•    Wildlife or environmental knowledge or specialism
•    Commercial awareness
•    First aid experience
•    Motivated self-starter

 

 

Good to know

 

•    We have part time seasonal positions available.
•    Driving Licence and own transport is essential as Llyn Brenig is a remote site, not covered by public transport.
•    An enhanced DBS check will be required prior to start date for all successful applicants.
•    Llyn Brenig is open 7 days per week therefore regular weekend and bank holidays working is essential.
