What you’ll be responsible for

As a Process Operator a key element of this role will be operating and maintaining of all DCWW asset types including wastewater Treatment works, Sewage pumping stations and combined sewer overflows, ensuring 100% compliance with all regulatory standards. 

You should be willing to develop your knowledge & skills around wastewater treatment processes, take part in ‘on the job’ training and have the flexibility and competence to operate and maintain multiple sites. 


Your responsibilities will include:

 

  1. Taking responsibility for operating sites in line with environmental permits to protect environment; general maintenance of equipment and site, taking effluent samples to monitor and improve biological performance
  2. Taking responsibility for identifying and where applicable undertaking reactive work as required. Raising reactive work for equipment when required and liaising with multi-discipline craft team on facilitating repairs
  3. Identifying potential pollution risks from our assets, taking measures to prevent pollution, and escalating when required
  4. Liaising and coordinating with the area Supervisor and team members on operating activities and continuous improvement for the area
  5. Taking responsibility for personal and colleagues’ safety through compliance with company Health and Safety procedures
  6. Understanding and adhering to quality system requirements to ensure audit compliance
  7. Taking ownership of sites, ensuring house-keeping standards are maintained and defects reported
  8. Willing to develop and learn within the role and have the flexibility and competence to operate and maintain multiple sites
  9. Participating in arrangements and cover for annual leave and sickness for area of operation
  10. Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business
  11. Participating in out of hours standby rota.

Who you’ll work with

Internal

· Strong working relationships within the catchment wastewater treatment team including Performance Manager, Operations Coordinator, Craft team

· Advice and support from Science and Support, Statutory Maintenance, Wastewater Assets

· Liaison with local network team

External

· Liaison with Environment Agency and/or NRW

· Liaison and assistance with external contractors and Capital partners

 

About you

Knowledge, Skills & Experience 

  • NVQ Level 2 or higher, BTEC, ONC/HNC qualifications in Wastewater Treatment Process Operations is desirable but not essential
  • Demonstrable experience of compliance and adherence to Health & safety standards
  • Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day
  • Team player, willing to take part in all necessary training requirements required for the role
  • Computer systems literate including SAP, Scope X, Microsoft Word and Excel are
    essential
  • Team player, willing to take part in all necessary training requirements required for the role

Good to know

  • This role is subject to a standby call out Rota 1 in 9 (this is additional to the basic salary)
  • Shift pattern weekdays 08:00 – 16:00, plus 1 in 9 weekends 08:00 – 13:00 Sat & Sun (this is additional to the basic salary)                                
  • The role will come with a Annualized hours contract (this is additional to the basic salary) 
  • A UK Drivers Licence is required for the role
  • The successful candidate must have a full, clean drivers’ license, a company vehicle will be provided
