What you’ll be responsible for
The Flow Technician will take the lead for the Operational Catchment team to deliver improved Flow related compliance. The role will be the primary point of contact for all Flow Escalations across the Catchment, with a strong focus on ensuring compliance with Flow Pass Forward and tracking operational issues. Responsibilities include investigating, identifying root causes, and resolving operational flow non-compliance, while collaborating with supervisors and wider teams to address local issues related to maintenance, behaviours, and telemetry.
The role also entails delivering small-scale operational resolution initiatives. Additionally, it involves reviewing and investigating flow-related alarms that could impact compliance, proactively intervening when asset flow compliance deteriorates, and tracking all corrective actions across the catchment.
The role requires leading flow communications to ensure that operational teams are informed about flow, legislative changes, and procedures, the role will also play a key role ensuring new starters understand the importance of flow compliance. Close collaboration with ORC, EDM, and Storm Harvester Teams is essential to resolve alarms and optimise telemetry. The role will also work with Asset Flow Teams and support Flow Engineers with monitoring and resolution of flow projects.
Responsibilities:
- Point of contact for all Flow Escalations across the Catchment. Focus on compliance with Flow Pass Forward and tracking of Operational related issues.
- Responsible for investigation, root cause and resolution of Operational related Flow non-compliance. Work with Supervisors and wider teams to resolve local issues around maintenance, behaviours and telemetry.
- Delivery of small-scale Operational resolution initiatives such as repair or introduction of new maintenance tasks to maintain compliance.
- Support Operations with managing contractors on MCert cleans and other local flow initiatives.
- Review and investigate all Flow related alarms that have the potential to impact flow compliance such as Flow Pass Forward failure and dry day spill alarms.
- Proactively investigate and intervene where asset flow compliance has begun to deteriorate before any non-compliance occurs.
- Track all corrective actions for flow across the catchment providing regular reports on flow compliance across the Catchment.
- Lead on Flow Communications across the catchment ensuring flow briefs reach front line Operations and any changes in legislation or procedures are understood by Operational teams. Ensure all new starters in the Catchment understand the importance of Flow Compliance.
- Work closely with ORC, EDM and Storm Harvester Teams to resolve alarms/notifications and optimise telemetry and monitoring systems to ensure proactive resolution of issues and reduced nuisance noise.
- Work with Asset Flow Teams to identify Flow non-compliance because of Operational issues and support Flow Engineers with monitoring, escalation and resolution of Asset/Capital Flow projects ensuring Operational compliance once delivered.
- Liaise with Science teams to ensure process related changes do not adversely impact flow compliance. Likewise, ensure that flow related changes to not adversely impact process.
About you
Qualifications
• Scientific background with HNC or equivalent experience (preferable)
Experience
• Have experience of wastewater and sludge treatment processes and legislation (essential)
• Experience of influencing people and demonstrating performance (essential)
Knowledge & Skills
• Ability to deliver root cause analysis, plan and deliver solutions (essential)
• Ability to communicate ideas and targets to others, especially other team members (essential)
• Effective written and verbal communication skills (essential)
• Full driving licence and ability to travel as job requires (essential)
Good to know
Mix of office and site work with option for working from home when able. Normal working pattern Mon-Fri 8-4pm. No requirement for standby currently but this might be reviewed in future if required.
