What you’ll be responsible for

You will join a great team whose aim is to make each reservoir a leading visitor attraction in the region.  You will assist the Café Manager and wider team to provide a service to our customers. You will also be smart and presentable, and able to communicate in a constructive, knowledgeable and helpful way with visitors, always projecting a positive image of Welsh Water.  


As a Cafe Supervisor you will be supervising the kitchen and restaurant areas to ensure excellent customer service is delivered whilst maintaining a safe environment for all persons on site.

Responsibilities will include:

  1. Ensuring the Health and Safety of all visitors and customers using the facilities of the site, providing an active part in monitoring safety, ensuring all records are kept up to date and all incidents and accidents are recorded in line with the required company procedures.
  2. With the Cafe Manager order all kitchen and stock for resale supplies from approved suppliers.
  3. Maintaining upkeep of all kitchen HACCP records at all times and to the required standard.
  4. Preparing, cooking and serving meals, managing and organising café assistants to deliver high quality customer service.
  5. Supervising and identifying training needs of colleagues to ensure excellent customer service, striving to develop and improve the customer experience offering.
  6. Ensuring the service in the café and retail area is maintained to a high standard
  7. Engaging with customers as an ambassador of Welsh Water
  8. Maintaining the food hygiene standards, upkeep and tidiness of the kitchen, retail and restaurant areas in accordance with Welsh Water Food safety procedures.
  9. Undertaking any other duties as required by the Cafe Manager to meet the needs of the business.
  10. Supporting the recruitment of instructors and managing the training and induction requirements of all new colleagues to ensure that they are fully competent to work both on and off centre.
  11. Deputising for the Café Manager in their absence.
  12. Take part in the Duty Manager rota for the site.

About you

Knowledge, Skills & Experience 

  • Current Food Hygiene Level 3 minimum certification
  • Satisfactory DBS check     
  • Practical health & safety and food safety experience in a visitor attraction or retail or restaurant environment     
  • Experience working with the general public     
  • Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day    
  • Commercial catering and kitchen supervisory experience    
  • Catering/Retail customer service knowledge or specialism    
  • Ability to work on own initiative    
  • Commercial awareness    
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English    

Good to know

  • This role will require regular evening, weekend and bank holiday working
  • The selected candidate will require an enhanced DBS check prior to starting
