What you’ll be responsible for
Operating and maintaining Wastewater Treatment Works and associated sewage pumping stations in line with environmental permits to company Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Health and Safety requirements. This will include:
• Taking responsibility for operating sites in line with environmental permits to protect environment; general maintenance of equipment and site, taking effluent samples to monitor and improve biological performance
• Taking responsibility for identifying and where applicable undertaking reactive work as required. Raise reactive work for equipment when required and liaise with multi-discipline craft team on facilitating repairs
• Identifying potential pollution risks from our assets, taking measures to prevent pollution, and escalating when required
• Liaising and coordinating with the area Supervisor and team members on operating activities and continuous improvement for the area
• Taking responsibility for personal and colleagues’ safety through compliance with company Health and Safety procedures
• Understand and adhere to quality system requirements to ensure audit compliance
• Ownership of sites, ensuring house-keeping standards are maintained and defects reported
• Willing to develop and learn within the role and work flexibly to operate across and maintain multiple sites
• Participating in arrangements and cover for annual leave and sickness for area of operation
• Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business

• Liaison with Dwr Cymru Welsh Water suppliers and contractors
About you
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
• Experience gained in industry to ensure full compliance and adherence to all Health & safety standards.
• Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day.
• Awareness of regulatory bodies such as Environment Agency/National Resources Wales.
• Computer literate with basic competency in using Microsoft Word. In-house training will be provided for use of our company systems.
• Team player, willing to take part in all necessary training requirements required for the role.
Desirable only
• Knowledge of industry-specific computer software such as Scope X. Experience with Microsoft Excel is also desirable.
• NVQ Level 2 or higher, BTEC, ONC/HNC qualifications in wastewater treatment process.
Good to know
• Multi-site mobile working, no home working.
• Mon – Fri 08:00 – 16:00 standard working hours (37 hours/ week)
• Requirement to cover standby rota (1 in 4 weekends) and 260 hours of planned overtime with additional earning potential of up to £4,300 a year
