What you’ll be responsible for

 

As a member of the Water Production Central Management Team you will:


•    Provide day to day management and supervision of the Operations team and support in the continuous improvement of performance within the PWS team.
•    Exhibit role model behaviours and champion area wide initiatives.
•    Demonstrate best in class health & safety behaviours and ensure everyone returns home safely at the end of each working day.

 

As Operations Supervisor you will:


•    Ensure the Operations team safely execute their operations and maintenance duties to deliver performance targets for quality and efficiency.
•    Manage and motivate teams and individuals to comply with standards ensuring public health is not compromised and all PWS business plan targets are achieved.
•    Ensure that appropriate levels of resources are available to execute planned and reactive duties including standby rosters and emergency call outs.
•    Pro-actively and effectively manage team and individual performance in accordance with all current HR policies, including regular 121s and team meetings.
•    Support  in  the  implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency, drive down reactive activity and improve asset performance.
•    Monitor, manage and report on performance of Operations team.
•    Work with the planning and admin team to ensure jobs are raised, allocated and completed to business needs.

Who you’ll work with

 

Internal


•    Strong working relationships within the PWS team particularly the regional scientific teams, DWSP teams, planned maintenance teams, local asset management teams.
•    Regular  liaison  with  the  water  quality  regulation  team,  asset  strategy,  capital  delivery, emergency planning, and operational control centre.
•    Advice and support from the procurement, finance and HR teams.
•    Liaison with internal audit teams.

 

External


•    Key contract partners to ensure Bought in Services are being executed safely, cost effectively and at appropriate levels of service.
•    DWI as required in support of the Water Quality team.
•    Health and Safety Executive as required. 
•    NRW in relation to discharges and abstractions
•    Local authorities and emergency planning groups

About you

 


Experience Qualifications and Skills

 

  • Proven supervisory experience   with extensive maintenance knowledge and ability to demonstrate a proven track record of success
  • Able to demonstrate commercial experience in cost management and delivering efficiencies in operational budgets
  • An ability to think strategically but with a strong focus on ensuring day to day water production / maintenance operates effectively and efficiently
  • Experience  of  managing  Operations  and  M&E,I  teams,  inspiring  and motivating teams, successfully implementing initiatives, managing change and developing an effective water production team.
  • A  team  player  who  understands  the  importance  of  ownership  and accountability.
  • The ability to develop positive working relationships across the water production team and wider organisation
  • Able to demonstrate the technical ability to assess risks to water quality, review asset performance and implement improvement actions
  • Effective  communication  skills  and  ability  to  translate  initiatives  and directives into actions that are fully understood by the team.
  • Able   to   deal   with   external   stakeholders   in   a   professional   manner promoting a positive image of DCWW at all times.

  • Site Based role at Broomy Hill WTW.
  • Shift pattern is Monday to Friday with a 1 in 11 standby Rota covering the 7 days of the week. 365 days of the year.
