What you’ll be responsible for
You will join a great team of colleagues. Your role will be to assist the Activity Manager to manage the site and promote the activity offering at Llandegfedd Lake. You will safeguard, train and actively assist members of the public who undertake activities both land and water based from Monday to Sunday throughout our season. You will be presentable, able to communicate in an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful way to visitors and project a positive image for Welsh Water at all times. There is no public transport available, so access to reliable transport is essential.
Key responsibilities include:
• Present a professional attitude and appearance at all times, maintaining an excellent level of customer service and water safety. Engage with visitors as an ambassador of Welsh Water.
• Ensure the safety of all persons on site, including participants of land and water-based activities. This includes sailors, paddlers, windsurfers, anglers, walkers, and bird watchers.
• Assist the Activity Manager to manage the site in accordance with DCWW Health & safety management systems.
• Always apply the prescribed safe working practices in the delivery of all activities and ensure there is always written evidence of your compliance, in accordance with the Business Management System.
• Line manage, train and develop instructors and assistant instructors so that they provide high quality land and water-based activities to the public.
• Handle payments from the public and operate the till system.
• Apply the site rules and the ‘no swimming in reservoirs’ rule. Follow the routines for the timely opening and closing of the site and operate the safe issue and return of all activity equipment.
• Assist with the maintenance of the activity equipment to ensure a constant supply of working kit throughout the season.
• Support conservation, educational, public access and recreational activities, open days and events.
• Carry out any other tasks as required for the effective management of the site, as directed by the Activity Manager.

About you
Essential
• Appropriate National Governing Body (NGB) certification in at least one discipline. e.g. RYA Windsurf Instructor, RYA Sailing Instructor, RYA Powerboat Instructor, Canoe/Kayak Instructor, Paddleboarding Instructor, Lifeguard Qualification (for Open Water Swimming), Archery Instructor
• Experience of leading and motivating a team
• Ability to deliver excellent customer service
• Current recognised First Aid qualification
• Ability to work on own initiative
Desirable
• Experience delivering raft building, axe throwing or laser clay pigeon shooting
• Water safety qualification (e.g RYA Safety Boat, FSRT)
• Experience of watersport equipment maintenance
• Ability to communicate effectively in Welsh
Good to know
A satisfactory enhanced DBS check will be required prior to start date for all successful applicants.
