What you’ll be responsible for
As a credible member of the Quality Policy and Compliance team, you will:
• Provide a trusted, high quality service to customers, regulators and other external stakeholders, supporting the organisations vision to ‘earn the trust of our customers every day’.
• Ensure that sampling and analysis are carried out independently to meet the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 and that the company’s statutory and regulatory responsibilities with regard to drinking water and wastewater are met and the regulatory risk to the business is managed effectively.
What you will do: Key tasks and responsibilities
• Analyse water quality samples using a variety of techniques and instruments, adhering to relevant regulations, legislation and certifications and report results in a timely manner on a seven day working rota.
• Provide support to the wider business on matters of sample analysis and reporting of results.
• Understand the importance of the role in effective monitoring of water quality for protection of public health
• Critically evaluate scientific data and accurately report results onto LIMS within agreed timescales in order to satisfy regulators and operations delivery.
• Basic troubleshooting and equipment maintenance and ensure quality and efficiency of instrumentation.
• Work within the framework of the Quality Policy following strict guidelines covering technique, process and reporting including accurate record keeping, to ensure compliance with ISO 17025 standards.
• Follow health and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment and comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act.

About you
- Education to degree level in a science subject (equivalent relevant experience may be considered as an alternative to formal qualifications)
- Good computing skills and communication skills
- Previous experience in working within a UKAS accredited laboratory
- Working knowledge of COSHH and Health and Safety
Good to know
Full training will be provided internally on analytical methods to enable the role to be carried out.
• Laboratory based work.
• Shift patterns – 6 week working pattern: 5 weeks of 8am-4pm, 1 week of 2pm -10pm, including the weekend. Rest days are given in the week following the weekend.
• 15% shift allowance.
• Standby rota – 1 week in 6, on the week of 2pm -10pm as above.
