What you’ll be responsible for


Ensuring that the Company’s statutory and regulatory responsibilities with regard to water and wastewater quality are met and regulatory risk to the business is managed effectively. Providing expert support to both the Sampling Services Team and DCWW colleagues.


This will include:

  • Supporting the systems for scheduling, collection, storage, and transportation of regulatory and non-regulatory samples complying with the DCWW Sampling Procedures, and ISO 17025
  • Routine application of software systems to include LIMS / SQL, Field Service Edge / Click, Crystal Report Design, Excel VBA 
  • Collating sampling performance data metrics and producing routine monthly reports in addition to on demand reports and data explorers
  • Coordinating Sampling IT systems access for new users and managing software updates
  • Providing daily support to the Sampling Services Team, Field Sampling Technicians & Colleagues on matters relating to Sampling IT systems
  • Undertaking investigations in relation to both QC action investigations and Sampling Anomalies
  • Supporting the Annual Programme Build for Regulatory Sampling
  • Supporting the Sampling Services team and wider business to meet its objectives
  • Participating in a standby rota as Sampling/Courier/Systems – as required maintaining competency
  • On occasion providing support outside of normal working hours
  • Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business

About you



  • Qualified to degree level (Preference will be given to IT or Science degree)



  • Experience of using IT packages 
  • Experience of problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Relevant laboratory (ISO 17025 /OSM accredited) experience (DESIRABLE ONLY)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day
  • Understanding of Welsh Water’s statutory and regulatory obligations
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to take people at all levels through technical and procedural trainings
  • Have excellent relationship management skills 
  • The ability to work independently
  • Full driving licence with the ability to travel as required
