What you’ll be responsible for

As an Asset Health Engineer you will be responsible for the implementation of the maintenance strategy in your geographic area, as well as maintenance improvement activities. You will develop close working relations with local operations and maintenance teams to understand their problems, provide support and influence their approach. 


Your responsibilities will include: 

 

  1. Implementing the maintenance strategy in your assigned geographic region, ensuring that requirements are understood and that maintenance plans are delivered.
  2. Contributing to an optimised maintenance strategy that aligns to business objectives, in collaboration with business stakeholders.
  3. Supporting a culture of continuous improvement and maintenance excellence, ultimately delivering a reduction in reactive maintenance by ensuring that appropriate root cause analysis is undertaken for failures, leading to improvement actions that are identified and tracked.
  4. Optimising planned maintenance activities to drive cost efficiencies and improve performance.
  5. Delivering improvements in availability of data by implementing practices in your geographic area. Utilising this data to provide insight and help operations and maintenance teams improve their performance.
  6. Working with operational teams in the delivery of activities through the maintenance supply chain in the most efficient and effective way.
  7. Manging your own professional development and growth to ensure you remain a subject matter expert in Lean principles and maintenance excellence.

External

  • Regulators – DWI/OFWAT/NRW etc.
  • MRO supply chain.
  • Teams and individuals in other Water companies working on maintenance and reliability.

About you

Knowledge, Skills & Experience 

  • An excellent understanding of maintenance and reliability, earned through maintenance delivery roles.         
  • A proven maintenance professional, with an understanding of best practices and how maintenance impacts performance.        
  • A track record of working with or within operational teams, in a fast-paced environment.        
  • Proven ability to analyse data to generate insight and drive performance. Experienced in reporting maintenance performance based on an understanding of key performance indicators.    
  • A strong technical background with an understanding of the operation and maintenance of Water supply including mechanical, electrical and instrumentation equipment.        
  • Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day.        
  • The ability to communicate effectively to frontline colleagues as well as management in the organisation, including the presentation of data.         
  • The ability to build productive, collaborative relationships and represent the business in a credible manner with regulatory stakeholders.        
  • A continuous improvement mindset and an ability to drive these activities with the teams your working with.        
  • UK driving licence and ability to travel as job requires.   

Good to know

  • The successful candidate will be required to participate in a standby rota
  • This role involves hybrid working 
  • A full UK drivers licence is required
