What you’ll be responsible for

  1. Leading and developing the Water Asset Health Team, ensuring that every individual has clear objectives and is performing at their best. This will include routine line management in line with HR policies and procedures, and activities such as monthly 1-to-1s, performance reviews, team meetings etc.
  2. Developing an optimised maintenance strategy that aligns to business objectives, in collaboration with business stakeholders.
  3. Overseeing delivery of the maintenance plans, ensuring that programme and contract managers in operational teams are aligned and that activities are effective. Manage to assigned budgets.
  4. Delivering a reduction in reactive maintenance by ensuring that root cause analysis and improvement actions are identified and tracked.
  5. Optimising planned maintenance activities to drive cost efficiencies and improve performance.
  6. Stewarding asset data and advocating for a business approach to data systems that enables the necessary function of your team and associated activities.
  7. Working with procurement to develop strength in the maintenance supply chain leading to improved resilience and increased competitiveness i.e. reduced costs.
  8. Measuring key performance indicators at business and geographic level to provide visibility of opportunities for improvement and incentivise necessary behaviours.
  9. Manging your own professional development and growth to ensure you remain a subject matter expert and thought leader in the field of asset management. 
  10. Carrying out any other duties as required to meet business needs including participation in an appropriate standby rota.

About you

Knowledge, Skills & Experience 

  • A scientific or engineering degree level qualification, or equivalent    
  • UK driving licence and ability to travel as job requires  
  • An excellent understanding of maintenance and reliability, earned through maintenance delivery roles    
  • A proven maintenance professional, with an understanding of strategic maintenance approaches and an ability to advocate for them based on your experience of their implementation    
  • A track record of managing high performing teams. Proven ability to provide inspirational leadership and direction to a team to achieve business objectives    
  • Proven ability to utilise data to drive performance and initiate cultural change. Experienced in reporting maintenance performance based on development of key performance indicators    
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation – from frontline to board    
  • Highly effective critical thinker with ability to collaborate with technical specialists to optimise scope and solutions    
  • Contract management and procurement skills – ability to work with procurement specialist to set out requirements, select contractors and manage supply performance   
  • The ability to influence at all levels including at director level. Able to provide coherent reporting on business options and advocate for recommended positions    

Good to know

  • A UK Drivers licence is required for the role 
  • Car allowance is provided to the successful candidate 
  • The successful candidate will be required to participate in a standby rota
