What you’ll be responsible for


Assisting the Senior Instructor and the team to safeguard and assist members of the public who undertake water sports, land based and team building activities from Monday to Sunday during the season. Activities offered at the site include sailing, canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, windsurfing, powerboating, raft building, archery, axe throwing and laser clay pigeon shooting. Your role will include:


  • Assisting in the delivery of the activity program for customers visiting the reservoir, including team building programs, water and land based activities. 
  • Presenting a professional attitude and appearance and at all times maintaining an excellent level of customer service and water safety.  Engaging with visitors as an ambassador of Welsh Water.
  • Delivery of activity instruction following the appropriate National Governing Body (NGB) syllabus and Welsh Water programmes.
  • Ensuring the health and safety of all visitors and customers using the facilities of the site. 
  • Ensuring maintenance, repair and security of all Welsh Water equipment and facilities are of a continued high standard in order to exceed the requirements of our customers.
  • Working proactively as part of a team to set up and pack up on site facilities and provide assistance to all customers using the equipment at the Centre.
  • Taking part in the team rota that will involve working midweek & weekends throughout the season.
  • Serving customers in the water sports reception, handling activity enquiries and advance bookings.
  • Enforcing the rules of the site and the waterside, especially the ‘no swimming in reservoirs’ rule, the opening and closing times, and the safe marshalling of visitors during busy periods.
  • Supporting conservation, educational, public access and recreational activities, open days, and events.

About you


  • Current Recognised First Aid Certificate
  • Practical health & safety experience
  • Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day
  • Working with the general public
  • Water safety knowledge
  • Ability to work on own initiative



  • Experience delivering raft building, archery, axe throwing or laser clay pigeon shooting 
  • Appropriate National Governing Body (NGB) certification in at least one discipline. e.g. RYA Windsurf Instructor, RYA Sailing Instructor, RYA Powerboat Instructor, Canoe/Kayak Instructor, Paddleboarding Instructor, Lifeguard Qualification (for Open Water Swimming), Archery Instructor

  • An enhanced DBS check will be required prior to start date for all successful applicants.
  • Llandegfedd is an attraction site; therefore candidates will need to be prepared to work weekends and bank holidays.
