What you’ll be responsible for


As an electrician, you will be required to maintain, repair and install equipment as part of the main MEI teams, working individually or as part of a team. The successful candidate will be able to fault-find, rectify problems with electrical systems and all ancillary equipment.
 

Your responsibilities will include:
 

  1. Installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems generally. 
  2. Demonstrating an ability to read, understand and work from electrical drawings. 
  3. Maintaining, repairing and installing mechanical, electrical and instrumentation to ensure performance of all assets. 
  4. Actively taking part in Risk Assessment, COSHH assessment and all related Health and Safety issues. 
  5. Identifying problematic plant and the subsequent faults and taking part in finding efficient solutions to return equipment to working order. 
  6. Identifying requirements of spares and materials using preferred suppliers. 
  7. Completing all job cards and timesheets to allow for monitoring of workload, performance etc. 
  8. Providing knowledge, information and onsite support for Welsh Water capital teams and operational teams. 
  9. Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

About you

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills 
 

  • Fully qualified electrician who has completed a recognised apprenticeship in an industrial environment 
  • Full, UK Driving Licence
  • Experience of working with pumps and variable speed drives
  • Knowledge of industrial processes and of fixed and variable speed motor control.
  • Ability to read schematic diagrams and find and repair faults on electrical circuits
  • Solution focused approach to resolving problems
  • Ability to take responsibility make decisions and uses initiative, working proactively
  • The ability to develop positive working relationships and to be seen as a highly credible representative of the team is required for this role.
  • Compliance with current standards and legislation i.e. BS7671: 2018, 18th Edition IET regulations
  • An excellent understanding of safe working practices and of planning and scheduling of work processes
  • Communication and ability to influence others
  • Working as part of a team
  • Critical thinking to be able to analyse information and provide a solution to situation effectively

Good to know

  • A company vehicle will be provided 
  • A Full UK Drivers Licence is required 
  • The successful candidate will be required to participate in a standby rota
