What you’ll be responsible for

As a key member of the team, you will operate Water Treatment Works and associated water pumping stations in accordance with company BMS and Health & Safety requirements, helping to ensure the reliable delivery of high-quality water services to our customers.

Key responsibilities will include:

Managing chemical stock levels, consumables and other essential supplies through effective purchasing and control processes using SAP.
Monitoring and managing expenditure to support the achievement of budgetary targets.
Inducting, supervising and coordinating external contractors undertaking revenue and reactive capital maintenance activities, breakdown repairs and project work.
Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety and BMS requirements, while maintaining high standards of quality control.
Working closely with the ME&I Crafts Team to coordinate revenue and reactive capital maintenance activities.
Liaising with Network Supervisors and Operatives to plan and coordinate plant shutdowns for maintenance and other site activities, ensuring continuity of water supply wherever possible.
Contributing to team resilience by supporting annual leave and sickness cover arrangements across the operational area.
Undertaking any other duties required to support the needs of the business.

About you

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Qualifications

NVQ Level 2 or above, BTEC, ONC/HNC qualification in Water or a related discipline.
UK driving licence

Experience

Experience gained within the water industry, with a strong commitment to working safely and ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety requirements.

Knowledge & Skills

Passionate about delivering excellent service and putting our customers at the heart of everything you do.
Confident using computer systems and software, such as SAP, Scope X, Exchange, Word and Excel.
Awareness of industry regulators and their role in the sector, including the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI), Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales (NRW).
Understanding of abstraction licence requirements and the management of raw water intakes.
Understanding of discharge consent licences and environmental compliance requirements relating to site discharges.
Able to work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders to support the safe and efficient operation of water treatment assets.

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, providing a consistent work-life balance. Upon successful completion of training, you'll join a standby rota, typically 1 week in every 4, helping to support the continued delivery of essential services & up to 260 hours of planned overtime with additional earning potential.
